the way we were

                                        some said rebellion

so unsound for some of us

Love’s Legacy

have always been our spirits
as fancies my heart?

were then We there
at first season’s weaning
when yawn’d and stretch’d a microstar?

night with day to grace

station of acquaintance

                                       spirits transforming their cloth
                                       yet unable to mask memories
                                       that dwell at the crossroads
                                       of moment—
                                       and sometimes
                                       those of modest dress
                                       be the fondest
                                       with a will for immortality
