after a long overcast
with brethren gliding
o’er piscary
break formation shall we
and meet above that halo
where the Sun
sneaks thru the clouds
to kiss the Sea
and mirror our wings
to the comfort
of rock and cliffs
for the night

how opportune
our former flesh
parch’d
to barren veins
to silent hearts
reshap’d
luster’d
by Nature
by Time
by Mankind
slumbering on
embosom’d
for inquisitive eyes
but together
still
Stardust
have our spirits always been
as fancies my heart?
from time’s weaning
to Eden
to redwood saplings
to when Everest was but a plain with child
to when clouds cry’d into Atlantic canyons
to when a candle yawn’d and stretch’d
and marry’d Night with Day

be the fog
thicker
the sidewalks
more uneven
