Point Loma

catch a glimpse
one’s eyes
through a break
in the coastal ridgescape

transport the mind
to 16th century
to Juan Cabrillo
soldier explorer

the birth
of European boots
to engrave this western shore

the placenta

of California

Umbrage

bones of a shadow cast

the rind of its caster

eyes away from the light

speaking to other eyes

quietly telling time

View Point

there’s water to stimulate our feet
a large perch to relax our wings
and lots of opportunity for people-watching

Stream

my thoughts mesmeriz’d
by her voices and gambolings

each blade of wetness
quickly disappearing

evolving
into another

until a lifetime of lives
reaches current’s end

Fortune Teller

within this crystal ball
speak
the possibilities
of thy life

will thou be
delight’d
afraid
amaz’d
skeptical
humor’d?

or even influenc’d
once thou departs
her sanctum
her exercise
of deception
of entertainment?
