Mime (from the Time Capsule)

granite flesh in dream—
stir’d by voices
in peripheral eyes—
flinch and freeze
flinch and freeze—
blind palms to invisible walls
top to bottom
side to side
front to back
finding no way out—
despair’d back to stone
and frozen orbs—
till virgin curiosity approaches
nearer and nearer
only to gasp in brief horror
…at a wink

when

not of a Feather

nest Together

Fire from the Sky

woodlands scorch’d to ash
beasts ambush’d to annihilation
compost’d soil
somehow
be brought abed
of newer but divergent woods
of newer but divergent beasts
of future
vigilant scientific eyes

Big Laguna Meadow 2024

perfum’d breeze whispering
from Her forestal sea

once widespread
till the birth of the ax and pavement

now hidden in safeness
from th’ eyes and clamor
of high rises and freeway parking lots

Desert View

tributaries
of leaf
rock
and sand
holding hands
with eyes
of a woodland sea

where our own perception
has strength regain’d

where aching shoes
be soon forgotten

Dream Pollen 3

a strong wind
of uncontrol’d thought
blows like a cue ball
into families of rem

scattering kin to and fro

changing dance partners
the real with the unreal

most of which will be forgotten

others for safekeeping
till the next runaway gale

Hope While the Dragon’s Awake

Spirit of th’ Earth
let us invocate

grace Her with gentle strokes
for purring comfort in Her song

inspiring floodwaters to don
their rainbow mists
into songs of encouragement

not for the morrow
when This Moment will do
to be ours to dream
