Remembering Normal

                                 at holy james’ downtown bay
                                 ‘twas someone’s future—
                                 a future after their time—
                                 way after

                                 boats anchor’d—
                                shores of point loma—
                                united landing at refurbish’d airport—
                                solar turbines—
                                star of india—
                                anthony’s—
                                pac star cruises

                               seaweed stretching from shallows
                               to surface and nursing rocks
                               bordering harbor drive—
a curious pigeon bobbing for scraps

                              too hot to be jogging
                              unless you’re a jogger

                              Tomorrow’s not soon enough
